2025-08-16As part of its ongoing inspection efforts, and in coordination with relevant and partner authorities, the Riyadh Municipality has recorded 26 violations posing a threat to public health at several beverage-serving establishments in the city. This came during a field inspection campaign aimed at protecting public health and ensuring these businesses comply with municipal regulations, resulting in the closure of two establishments due to serious recorded violations.
The campaign is part of daily monitoring efforts and followed several reports submitted via the “Madinati” app, which highlighted various violations, including poor hygiene, employment of workers without valid health certificates, and other practices that could endanger consumer safety.
During the inspection tours, municipal teams identified 26 violations, some of which were critical. These included improper storage and handling of food and beverages, use or display of spoiled meat, poor personal hygiene and unclean appearance of workers, presence of live or dead pests within the premises, unsanitary preparation areas and equipment, failure of staff to wear designated uniforms, head coverings, or gloves, operating without a license, and reopening businesses before the legal closure period had ended.
Additional violations included lack of proper waste disposal containers, employment of workers without valid health certificates, non-compliance with tobacco product display and storage regulations, absence or unclear display of nutritional labels, poor ventilation or lighting, cracks in flooring and walls, general safety hazards in the facility, water leakage from equipment, use of non-compliant utensils and containers, and failure to maintain or service refrigeration and heating devices.
The Municipality has taken strict measures in response to these violations, including issuing warnings, preparing detailed violation reports, imposing financial penalties, and shutting down establishments that pose an immediate threat to public health. These actions reflect the Municipality’s commitment to consumer protection and ensuring service environments in the capital meet health and municipal standards.
The Municipality emphasized that reports submitted through the “Madinati” app are a key element in the success of inspection campaigns. The app allows residents to easily and quickly report violations, attach photos, and pinpoint locations using GPS, enabling field teams to respond swiftly and take appropriate action.
Riyadh Municipality affirmed that it will continue its inspection campaigns on this type of establishment and others that affect public health, as part of its vision to enhance quality of life in the capital, support sustainable urban development, and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in improving service quality and protecting consumers.
