Rural Residents

As part of its commitment to achieving balanced and inclusive development, the Riyadh Municipality places special emphasis on residents of rural areas and the surrounding centers of the capital. The Municipality aims to improve the quality of life in these regions through infrastructure development, the provision of municipal services, and the promotion of government development programs.

While the primary responsibility for supporting agricultural projects and rural development lies with specialized authorities—such as the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture—the Municipality plays a complementary role by creating an enabling environment for the implementation of these programs through:

• Developing rural roads to facilitate access to farms and villages.

• Issuing construction and fencing permits for farms within its municipal jurisdiction.

• Supervising seasonal agricultural markets and commercial activities related to rural production.

Within this framework, rural residents can benefit from the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Reef) support service, provided by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture through the National Unified Portal.
