Riyadh Municipality has launched the “One-Third of the Sacrifice” service on its official app as part of a unique community initiative aimed at promoting social solidarity during the Eid al-Adha season. This initiative, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, is designed to enable charitable organizations to receive, prepare, and distribute the one-third portion of sacrificial meat intended for those in need.

Through the “One-Third” platform, users can easily register their details and donate one-third of their sacrificial animal. Authorized charitable associations then handle the process of collecting meat from participating slaughterhouses, cutting, packaging, storing, and delivering it to eligible families using an organized mechanism that preserves the dignity of beneficiaries and upholds the highest standards of food quality and safety.

The launch of this digital service marks the continuation of an initiative that began in 2022 with three main slaughterhouses in Riyadh. It significantly expanded in 2023 to include 41 slaughterhouses, 63 charitable organizations, and more than 461 volunteers who contributed to the organization and distribution efforts.

Last year’s edition saw more than 71,000 donors and over 105,000 beneficiaries, with more than 111,000 kilograms of sacrificial meat distributed reflecting the initiative's positive impact in reinforcing community values and ensuring fair distribution of meat during Eid.

This initiative aligns with the Riyadh Municipality’s strategic vision to strengthen high-impact partnerships with government entities and the non-profit sector. It also seeks to scale sustainable community initiatives, support organized charitable work, enhance quality of life, and contribute to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a digitally connected and socially cohesive society.
