Project Overview

The “Riyadh Parking” project is one of the strategic initiatives launched by Riyadh Municipality as part of its efforts to enhance quality of life and regulate traffic movement in the capital. The first phase officially commenced on August 25, 2024. The project aims to manage and organize more than 24,000 paid on-street parking spaces in commercial areas, in addition to over 140,000 free residential parking spaces designated to protect residents’ rights. The first phase covers 12 key districts in the city, including Al-Wurud, Al-Rahmaniyah, Al-Murooj, Al-Sulaymaniyah, and King Fahd. Implemented through a public-private partnership, the project is operated by Rimat Riyadh in collaboration with solutions by STC and a global partner, under a 10-year contract. It leverages modern technologies, including solar-powered electronic payment machines, smart guidance signage, and a digital application that enables payment and permit issuance, along with a 15-minute free grace period for paid parking. The project is designed to reduce random parking, improve mobility across the city, support commercial activity, and contribute to smart city development and infrastructure enhancement by reinvesting its financial returns. Electronic Payment: Offers multiple payment options including Apple Pay, Mada, and credit cards to simplify the payment process. 3. Digital Residential Permits: Enables residents and visitors to obtain digital residential permits through the app, helping to organize parking usage in residential neighborhoods. 4. Parking Duration Control: Allows users to set their desired parking duration, with a 15-minute grace period before the paid parking time is activated. 5. Analytics and Data Insights: Utilizes artificial intelligence technologies to monitor and analyze parking data, contributing to better traffic management and the provision of additional parking spaces when needed.
