2025-03-15Over the past three years, the Riyadh Municipality has inaugurated eighty-seven new parks, raising the total number of parks in the capital to over 700, up from 615 previously. This initiative reflects the Municipality’s commitment to enhancing quality of life and aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to expand green spaces.
The newly established parks cover a combined area exceeding 745,000 square meters and include the planting of approximately 25,000 shrubs and 7,000 trees, distributed across various districts of Riyadh to ensure equitable service coverage.
In line with residents’ needs, the Municipality has modernized park designs by adding new facilities such as nurseries for children, sports courts, inclusive play areas for people with disabilities, fitness equipment, interactive spaces, and dedicated cycling paths. Sustainability standards were also prioritized, involving community participation in park designs, adopting local architectural identity and materials, and ensuring universal accessibility and shorter travel times to parks.
These parks have transformed into vibrant community hubs, activated by a variety of recreational, cultural, social, and sports events, reinforcing their role as gathering places that strengthen social bonds.
This initiative underscores the Riyadh Municipality’s dedication to meeting the aspirations of the capital’s residents by elevating quality of life and contributing to Vision 2030’s objective of making Riyadh a global model for sustainable and thriving cities.
