Riyadh Municipality intensifies its efforts to control markets and foodstuffs during Ramadan month
Riyadh Municipality has started implementing control and inspection plan prepared by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs for Ramadan month, which includes the intensification of health and veterinary supervision on all foodstuffs establishments, markets, slaughterhouses and foodstuffs production and handling shops, for the safety of Riyadh City’s residents and visitors.
The aim of the plan is to ensure the application of health requirements within establishments, and ascertain the extent of employees' compliance with municipal and hygiene regulations, as well as workers inspection to ensure that they are free of symptoms or infections, and to apply the conditions of storage, preservation, handling and preparation in foodstuffs establishments, to ensure the safety of raw and cooked foodstuffs.
The plan includes controlling the main markets for vegetables, fruits and butcher, poultry, fish and cattle selling shops, central markets, restaurants of all kinds, juice shops, sweets and bakeries, barbershops, women's hairdressers , laundry, kitchens and wedding palaces with preparations for Eid al-Fitr.
The action plan is also considered with hygiene as major issue, in light shed of the high volume of waste in the month of Ramadan because of increment of population's consumption of food, where municipality will increase its efforts of daily cleaning work, and increase the population's cooperation with it by removing the waste and placing it in the designated areas to be disposed of as soon as possible.
